Our Projects

Ceide to Downpatrick Head Coastal Walk

This is the flagship project for the group, the development of a coastal walk from Downpatrick Head to Ceide.  This incorporates a 13.5Km walking trail along the coastline.

There are 30 signature points along the way including:

  • Polladarky Blow Hole (Bigger then Pollnaseantine)

  • Leim Giant Steps

  • Doonfeeney Sea Arch

It will support tourism and recreational activities but will also act as an outdoor living laboratory complementing the Eco Campus facility.

A complementary resource for this area to support local employment opportunities.

  • All the relevant land owners have been consulted and support the project.

  • Failte Ireland representatives have visited the project and support it.

Ceide Coast Eco Campus

The Ceide Coast Eco Campus is on the site of the old Stella Maris Secondary School and Convent on Main Street Ballycastle.

In 2021 the ground floor was refurbished from its dilapidated state and transformed to offer a training facility and meeting rooms for environmental training and collaboration.  Already, the meeting rooms are in full time use with local entrepreneurs building their business from this location.

With plans to develop the upper floors the refurbishment will offer small office spaces, further training facilities and collaboration spaces. This building will possess the capacity to provide up to date facilities for colleges and companies to hold workshops and lectures for both small and large groups.

We plan to build on current collaborations with Irish third-level institutions and internationals institutions.

Killerduff Pier Redevelopment

Killerduff Pier is regularly used by divers and fisherman and needs upgrading from a health and safety.

This was highlighted recently during the cave rescue when access to basic requirements was impeded at times given pier design and current layout.

Used frequently for pleasure vessels and will be used in 2023/24 for the World Red Bull Cliff Diving Series Irish leg.

For these reasons upgrading and investment is
necessary.
